Daily NEWS from the camp
| Monday, July 1st, 2002 | The camp started on 9am and the campers headed to the Hohe Wand. All thirteen campers along with Danny, Gerry and Fiona, arrived savely on the "Dr. F. Naglhütte" and set up the camp. They are all happy and excited. The campers had wraps (kind of mexican "Tacos") for lunch and then prepeared for an afternoon tour in the nearby woods. There will be a compass game later on in the afternoon and some get-to-know-each-other games.
The weather is fine: the temperatures are around 20°C, partly cloudy, partly sunny with some winds heading from South.
Tonight the campers will have Pizza for dinner. They will have a night-walk and - of course - a camp fire.
| | Tuesday, July 2nd, 2002 | Yesterday night the campers saw hundreds of fire flies near the camp! All the children were brave enough to walk about 200 metres alone through the dark woods. This morning the kids made masks after breakfast. For lunch, they had Hamburgers and Veggie-Burgers. After lunch they played a compass game, "Predator Prey" (a kind of hunting game) and they worked on the camp diary. Then they made salt dough figures.
For dinner there will be Spaghetti. All the kids are happy and well.
The weather was fine today: in the morning they had 20°C and during lunchtime it was even 25°C. Although the day was mostly sunny, they expect some thunderstorm in the evening.
Tonight there will be a flash light game and another camp fire.
| | Wednesday, July 3rd, 2002 | Pictures of the first camp are online. Have fun viewing. This morning it was cold with about 14°C only. After the usual breakfast the children tie-dyed T-shirts (you can see some of this artwork in the pictures section we prepared).
For lunch the kids made Hot Dogs and then went to the Kleine Kanzel to reach the bus for an afternoon in the local "Piestinger Waldbad". The children swam, played and ate icecream (as the temperatures rais up to 32°C in the late afternoon - a perfect day to go swimming). At 5:15pm the bus took the campers back to the Hohe Wand.
For dinner they will have a buffet. Tonight there will be a camp fire and the "Fairy Game" in the forrest. For this game it is neccessary to have some more teachers, so 3 more teachers will be on the camp to night to help: Kim, Gregor and Philip.
| | Thursday, July 4th, 2002 | This morning the children slept until 9:30am in the morning - they were very tired from the exciting game the night before. They had "Irish Breakfast" (beans and toast) and afterwards they painted their salt-doughs and made rain sticks (to stop the rain :-). For lunch they had Tacos and then the campers played "Capture the Flag" in the woods. Fortunately, it stopped raining for the game.
By 6pm they listen to a ghost story told by Gerry. This evening they will BBQ, have a camp fire and disco.
The weather: this morning heavy rain, fog and only 9°C. In the afternoon is was partly cloudy, partly sunny and "highs" of 11°C. The weather is expected to improve by tomorrow, though.
| | Friday, July 5th, 2002 | After the fire-works last night the children went to bed. This morning the kids had pan cakes. After breakfast they cleanded up the camp. As of 2pm they walked down to the petting zoo.
As expected the weather was fine today. It was sunny with about 22°C.
The bus comes at 5pm to the Kleine Kanzel, so they will be home at 6pm. CU there.
