Daily NEWS from the camp

Monday, July 7th, 2003
The camp has started at 10am. We will update this page daily in the late afternoon.

[update 2:45pm]

All campers and Danny, Gerry and Fiona have arrived safely at the Dr Ferdinand Nagl Haus on the Hohe Wand. As usual, the children set-up the camp. They had Sandwiches for lunch and now they are playing some getting-to-know-each-other games and acitivities.

There will be room control at 5pm and afterwards they will be making Pizza and jam (no: that is not a "jam Pizza" ;-)

The weather is partly sunny, partly cloudy with around 20°C. Looks like they will have their first summer camp fire tonight. There are plans for a night walk as well.

All kids are happy and enjoying the first hours of Our Camp 2003/2.

Tuesday, July 8th, 2003
Last night the children had a wonderful night walk to Plackles (the highest point of the Hohe Wand). Befor bed they had cacao and the all had a long sleep.

This morning, after breakfast, the campers made apple-heads and played games in the forest. For lunch they had Tacos.

Then the children tie-dyed T-shirts and played some games at the Hohe Kanzel.

For dinner they had hamburgers and veggie-burgers and then they played Darts.

At the time of writing this dairy Fiona and the girls are about to bake some muffins. Soon the camp fire show will start. There are plans for the Flash-Light game at 10pm.

The weather is better now: the whole day it was mostly sunny with temperatures between 12°C and 20°C and there was almost no wind.

There were no problems so far. All the campers are well and having a great time. And they are always hungry (but we do our best to feed them ;-))

Wednesday, July 9th, 2003
Last night Fiona and Gerry disappeard at 10pm into the forest. The kids had to look for them which was very spooky but thrilling. Before bed they had tea.

After breakfast this morning the campers made masks (you can see them on the pictures wich will be available by tonight). Then they prepared hot dogs for lunch.

At 1pm the camp bus brought them to the Erholungszentrum Neunkirchen, were they spent the afternoon in the outdoor- and indoor pool. Once they return to the Hohe Wand they will receive all the messages you sent them during the last days.

The weather today: mostly cloudy with temperatures around 19°C on the Hohe Wand and 24°C in Neunkirchen.

The children will have Spagetti for dinner (the kids eat and eat and eat - they are really in a process of growing ;-) Tomorrow morning they will have the new Irish breakfast (© Gerry): beans on toast, toast with egg and more.

If there is not too much rain they plan the "Gobblin" game for this night.

Thursday, July 10th, 2003
Last night the campers had to cancel the Goblin game due to bad weather, so they'll play it tonight. They heard a ghost story instead.

This morning they had the new Irish breakfast which most of them liked. Unfortunately, Louis had to be sent home as he got sick (fever). Everbody at the camp says Hello to Louis and whish him all the best!

The children painted masks, made bred and played Capture The Flag before lunch. Then they made wraps and ate them.

After lunch the kids played Capture The Flag again in the forest. Eventually they helped a farmer to fill the food house for the deer and the billy goats.

Later they played the Spider Web game and had room control. For dinner there was a grill party with chicken, turkey and Wiener's. For the evening there are plans for a disco and a Birthday party for Verena (who was stung by a wesp in the foot this afternoon - but she is ok).

Finaly they are going to have the Goblin game and the Box game tonight. Depending on the weather, there will be some fireworks tonight as well.

The weather is terrible today: one minute rain, the other minute it is sunny. Temperatures range from 15°C to 17°C. Nevertheless all the campers are having a great time.

Friday, July 11th, 2003
There was a wonderful grill party last night where Gerry told a gost story. Then Gerry, Fiona and Danny played the fantastic box-game with the kids. Afterwards they had some fireworks.

Today the kids had pan cake for breakfast. Then they cleaned up the house and the garden and had lunch (sandwiches).

In the early afternoon the campers played Hide-And-Go-Seek. They will soon head to the animal farm.

The bus will come at 5pm to the Kleine Kanzel to pick up the kids. So the campers will be home at 6pm.

The weather was good today: sunshine the whole day and temperatures around 24°C.

CU all next year!
