Daily NEWS from the camp

Monday, June 30th, 2003
The first camp 2003 has started on 10am (sorry for the 9 o'clock countdown we had here: it was from the 1999 camp. The counter is updated by now). By 12 o'clock all the girls and boys arrived safely at the Dr. Ferdinand Nagl Haus on the Hohe Wand. Once they had settled into their rooms they set-up the camp and made lunch (they had sandwiches).

After lunch they toured the camp area and played some getting-to-know-each-other games. For dinner there will be Pizza. In the first evening there are plans for a camp fire and a night walk.

The weather was mostly sunny with few clouds and no rain at all. They had about 26°C during the early afternoon.

Everybody is happy and excited and they are all about to have a great time.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2003
This morning - after a long sleep - the children had breakfast. The sun was shining and they had about 20°C.
Then they did some writing and made some "apple-heads". Before lunch they played a game in the nearby woods.

For lunch they enjoyed self made Tacos along with a funtastic sunshine and 28°C!

After lunch the kids played water games and tie-dyed T-shirts.

At 5pm wind came up and is start to get a little stormy. There was no rain though and temperatures were around 20°C. And: the strong wind is drying the T-shirts very quickly.

The campers will make hamburgers and veggie-burgers for dinner. If there is no rain, they will play a game in the forest tonight - after the campfire.

Finally the most important information of all: everybody is fine and enjoying the camp.

Pictures of Our Camp 2003 are online by now. Have fun viewing.
Yesterday night there was heavy wind and rain storms on the Hohe Wand. The temperatures fall to 11°C in the night - but everybody slept well. Actually, some boys slept until 9 o'clock - almost too well!

After the usual breakfast they made masks and a camp fire where they roasted hot dogs for lunch.

At 1pm the kids headed to the camp bus to drive to the Neunkirchner "Erholungszentrum" with enclosed indoor swimming pool (if it is too cold outdoors the kids may go to the indoor pool; in Piestieng there is no indoor pool, so the headed to Neunkirchen this time). The wheater in Neunkirchen was partly sunny with around 23°C. The water in the pool had 26°C, by the way.

For dinner they will enjoy Spaghettie. There will be a camp fire tonight and they have plans for another game in the woods.

Thursday, July 3rd, 2003
Last night the children had a wonderful time playing the "Goblin" game - and so they slept quite long today. Actually they had breakfast at 9:30am and then they made bread (which turned out to be delicious).
Before lunch everybody went to the big field at the Grosse Kanzel to play "Capture The Flag".

For lunch the campers had wraps. After midday they played some ball games and started to prepare for the grand evening show.

For dinner there will be a grill party (in fact, Danny will be grilling out-doors and the campers will eat in-doors - the weather). Tonight there will the the camp disco with show and fireworks (if the weather holds).

The weather was terrible today: sometimes rain, heavy winds, clouds and temperatures around 11°C. That's camp life too, but all kids are well and enjoying their stay no matter what the weather brings.

Friday, July 4th, 2003
The children had a wonderful grill party last night. Gerry told some gost stories (which perfectly fit to the weather these days). Then Gerry, Fiona and Danny played Gerrys fantastic box-game with the kids. Afterwards they had some fireworks and cake.
This morning they had pan cake for breakfast. Then they had the camp show (which couldn't be done yesterday). After the show they cleaned up the house and the garden and had lunch (sandwiches).

At 3pm the campers played Hide-And-Go-Seek. They will soon head to the animal farm.

The bus will come at 5pm to the Kleine Kanzel, so the campers will be home at 6pm.

The weather is still rainy and cloudy. Temperatures are around 12°C today. The kids are dirty but had a great time :-))
