Daily NEWS from the camp

Monday, July 5th, 2004
The first camp 2004 has started on 10am and the bus headed to the new camp area. All the campers arrived safely at the Hauereckhütte in Styria. At midday the sun was shining and they had about 22°C. The kids moved in and playes some getting-to-know-each-other games. For lunch they had wraps.

After lunch the kids enjoyed their free time but the weather changed a little: there was 19°C at 4pm and some dark clouds arrived. There is thunder rolling around but no rain so far.

The campers are going to make pizza for lunch and then they will make some jam. Later on there will be a camp fire (if it doesn't rain, of course) and there are plans for a night walk.

All the children are happy and safe. The whole camp is waiting for Sandra, who should join the group by 6pm in the evening.

The campers had heavy thunderstrom and rain with heavy wind last evening - nature at it's finest. It cleared up at 10pm though and the did a night-walk under the stars. They made the most fantastic discovery when they passed a stone path during this walk: the kids found real flintstones (well not Fred and Barney, of course). They had a lot of fun with the sparks. Finally it was a late night to bed - midnight!
This morning it was sunny with 14°C and it stayed sunny until the early afternoon. Duuring the morning the campers played the Compass Game. They had hamburgers and veggie-burgers for lunch.

Unfortunatly they had to change their plans for the afternoon due to heavy rain, thunder and lightning. So the group spent these hours in the hut and they made masks. At 6pm there was room control.

Later on they will prepare spagetti for dinner. It has stopped raining but there are still winds and it's quite wet - so there will be no out-door activities for tonight. Nevertheless the weather gives a perfect background for this evening's highlight: a ghoststory.

All the campers are well and enjoy their stay.

The weather improved a lot today hence the children were out-doors all the day long. The sun was shining the whole day.
After breakfast the campers tie-dyed T-shirts which turned out super!

For lunch the kids made hot-dogs over the fire and then the whole group went for a 75 minutes hike to Alpl ("Roseggers Waldheimat"; more info is available here: http://www.krieglach.at/g_rpdenk.htm). There the children went swiming: the out-door pool had 29°C and the indoor pool had 32°C! After swiming the kids showered and had ice-cream.

Then they returned to the hut were they arrived at 7pm - time for the buffet. Afterwards the campers played the Fairy Garden Game. The kids loved it. Bed time was at 11:30pm.

The emails the parents sent to the campers were delivered to the campers today. And there are the first pictures of this camp available.

The campers got up at 9:30 and had an Irish Breakfast. They were painting their masks during the morning hours.
Radio Styria promised a wonderful weather for today. At 10am it was sunny with 17°C and it the sun keeps shining all day long. At lunch time they had 23°C and durng the afternoon there were highs of 25°C and more.

The campers had Tacos for lunch and then they cleaned the house and the garden. After that they played Capture The Flag, which turned out to be very interesting because not only did they have to play the game, they also had to watch not to step into the "cow-pies".

At 6pm the children are having room control and then they are getting ready for tonight's BBQ party. On the menu: pork steaks, chicken steaks, Berner, Wiener, "Käsekrainer" and corn on the cob. For desert they will have muffins. Later on there is a party and a small fireworks.

The kids are happy and ... dirty again (it's an out-door camp after all). No one is ill or hurt and they all are having a great time. Although they hope to have good weather for their last camp day, the forecast isn't that good...

Friday, July 9th, 2004
Last night the campers were very lucky because there was no storm and no rain. So it was a long party with fireworks last night - bedtime at 1am!

This morning the kids got up at 10:30 (like real "party tigers", isn't it?). They had pancakes for breakfast and then the children helped cleaning around the house.

At 1pm they were painting the salt doughs they made yesterday. Then they will pak and have lunch. And then it's Good Bye to the Hauereck.

The weather today was cloudy with around 16°C.

The kids are all happy - but also sad to go. The campers will be back at Bellaflora by 6pm.

We have prepared a - map of the area for you. And there are some - pictures of the hut we used this year, the "Hauereckhütte" in Styria.
