Daily NEWS from the camp

Monday, June 30th, 2008
The first camp in 2008 started on time - and with rain until midday. So the campers walked up to the Dr Ferdinand Nagl hut in the rain. It had 15°C. The clouds last until 1pm and from that time on: blue, blue, blue. At 5pm they had 19°C in the camp area and no clouds and almost no wind.

When the group reached the hut the girls got one big room and the the boys took the 2 smaller ones. They had to make fire and then made hot-dogs for lunch.

After lunch the campers made a camp tour to get to know the area around the hut and then they played some games. Later in the afternoon they did some painting and at 5.30pm they prepared for room control.

Later in the evening they will make jam, have spaghetti for dinner and there will be a camp-fire show at around 8pm. Finally they plan a night walk starting at 9pm. Scheduled bed-time is 22.30pm. Let's see...

Everyone is happy and enjoying a great summer day at the camp.

Last night the camp had bedtime at 11pm.

This morning they had a blue sky (a strong azure-blue by the way as the camp is located above the haze we experience here in the low-lands). After a continental breakfast at 8.30am the campers did some more painting and fimo. For lunch they made hamburgers and cheeseburgers.

In the afternoon the boys and girls head over to the Große Kanzel where they played several games. They returned at 5.30pm and started to make pizza for dinner.

Tonights activities include a camp-fire show and a night game in the nearby woods: The Whistle Chase.

On this second day of the camp the weather was really super: no clouds, almost no wind and sunshine all day long. The temperatures reach from 15°C to 24°C. Everbody is healthy and having a great time. Tomorrow is pool-day, so the campers will drive to a public swimming pool in Neunkirchen. This is the place were the mails you sent will be handed over, so please keep in mind to send your mail before 10am tomorrow!

The campers had a Scottish breakfast this morning at 8.30am (and no: this is not Whisky but toast with egg :-)

At 9am they wrote the camp diary and then walked to the bus for a ride to Neunkirchen to enjoy the public out-door pool. A great weather for swimming: again no clouds, no wind and sunny. They had lunch there and headed back to the camp at 1.30pm.

During the afternoon there will be several English games in the camp area. For dinner the campers will have a buffet. Later on there will be a camp-fire show and they plan to play the Goblin game this night.

The weather is great again: 19°C in the morining (on the hut) and around 30°C at the swimming pool.

Still everybody is happy and there are no problems.

The mails you sent to the campers were handed over to Danny who will give them to the kids this afternoon. You may see some pictures of this camp by clicking on the button labeled "Our Camp Pictures".

Last nights The Goblin Game was a lot of fun. Fionas sister Kim joined the group and helped - thank you Kim! Bedtime was at 11.30pm.

This morning the campers had an Irish breakfast (beans on toast). But, in fact, every kid choose a continental breakfast - now Gerry is very sad ;-) These kids don't like beans.

After the breakfast they painted t-shirts with textile paint. They look great and the did an ironing already but an important note to the parents: the t-shirts must be ironed once more prior to washing to keep the colors stable!

For lunch the group got stew which was made over an open fire. The afternoon games were held inside the hut as there was a heavy thunderstorm at 2pm at the Hohe Wand. From 2pm to 5.30pm the weather was heavy: thunderstorm, lightning and hail (as big as marbles) - nature at it's best.

At 6pm the kids have their free time (although some take a sleep being still tired from yesterdays night game). Later on they will have a BBQ, the the camp disco and finally a fire works.

The weather today changes from a sunny, clouds-free morning with 20°C to 25°C at lunch time and comes to 17°C at 6pm - again sunny and a blue sky. Just in the time from 2-4pm there was this thunderstorm over the camp area.

Everone is having a great time over there. They will be back tomorrow at 6pm.

The children had a lot of fun with the disco last night. After the fireworks they had bedtime at 0.00am!

At 8.30am this morning a tired group of campers got pancakes for breakfast. Then the wrote the camp diary and played Capture The Flag. At 1pm they had soup and sandwiches for lunch.

In the afternoon they will do some more activities, then clean up the camp hut and around 4.30pm they will walk to the bus for a return to Bad Vöslau (were they are expected to arrive at 6pm).

The weather was ok this day: around 16°C, sunny and partly cloudy, some winds but no rain. So yesterdays 4 hours of thunderstorm were the only rainy hours in this camp. Very lucky campers!

All the kids are tired, dirty and happy.
